Using Your Magic Moments
I had the great privilege of driving through Sedona last week. It’s crazy beautiful, red rock everywhere, one of those places that inspire magic for many people, myself included.
I used to feel an endless need to get to places like Sedona. Always looking for the next chance to be somewhere inspiring and magical. I felt frustrated that I couldn’t always be there, that I couldn’t figure out how to make being in these places my day-to-day life. As soon as I could, I would race to these places just to feel alive again.
Now, because I know that feelings are caused by thoughts and not by my surroundings, I know how to use the magic of my favorite places to enchant my everyday life. I no longer feel dependent on being in these places as often as possible. Sure, I still LOVE to go but figuring out how to get there doesn’t consume my every waking moment anymore. I can use the experiences I’ve had already as well as maximize what I get out of the times I do get to go to places I love to feel that same magic whenever I want to, wherever I am, to enchant my everyday life.
Here’s how it works.
I have always felt an amazing sense of gratitude when in Sedona. Gratitude to me feels expansive, peaceful, and like my chest and mind are open. I used to think this feeling came from the beauty all around me there. However, after learning that all feelings are caused by thoughts, and learning coaching techniques, I have been able to identify that it is actually the thought: “I am SO lucky to experience this beauty” that creates this feeling. I call the thoughts that create each of our unique magic our wellspring thoughts and this is one for me. Knowing your wellspring thoughts is the secret to enchanting your life. Now that I know this thought, I can practice it so that my brain uses that pathway more often in my everyday life and also refocus my mind on believing it whenever I want therefore creating that same gratitude at any moment. There’s a full breakdown of how to identify your wellsprings from your magic moments including downloadable journal pages for you here.
