1. Remember a magic moment.

Magic feels slightly different to everyone, that’s why it’s unique. Think maybe awe, a spark, wonder, excitement, ecstatic, amazement, elated, proud, giggly, bubbly… whatever emotion it is you’ve felt before that seemed like it was too good to be true, more than you could expect, like a fairy had brought it to you and that you’ve been chasing since.

Remember a time you felt this magic in its full force. Remember as many details about the experience as you can. Write them out. Sing about it. Draw them out. Visualize the moment. Use whatever medium your brain needs to really immerse yourself in the moment again.

I have spent a lot of my life chasing magic. Many of the magic moments that first come to mind for me are when I walk into a certain theme park. As I walk in, there are bright colors, familiar characters, fun sounds, delicious smells, memories from my childhood come flooding back, and all my plans for the time there guarantee something fun awaiting me.

  2. Focus on the feeling.

What exactly is the magic emotion for you? Where do you feel it in your body? What color is it? What is the sensation? If it was a story what would the story be? If it were a fairy tale character, what character would it be?

The particular magic feeling from my times walking into this theme park is joy. It’s like a big iridescent bubble in my chest lifting my feet of the ground and carrying me through the day there.

  3. Find the wellspring thought.

Here’s how you create this unique magic you’ve found any time you want to.

The truth is that this feeling in all its magnificence does not actually come from that magic moment you’ve been thinking about, it comes from your thoughts about that moment AND you can think these thoughts whenever you want.

A thought is an optional sentence in your mind. It is a set of neural pathways firing together. I call the thoughts that create your magic, your wellspring thoughts.

It’s time to find your wellsprings. Consider:

    • What did I make my magic moment experience mean?

    • What thought matches the feeling I was having?

    • What was the sentence in my mind as I was in the experience?

    • If there’s a “this” or a “that” in your thought, it could be useful to describe it further.

Usually, when you find the wellspring thought, you’ll know it. You’ll feel that magic feeling very strongly as you think the thought again.

When I am in my magical theme park moments I am thinking:

    • Every detail is amazing!

    • I have so many happy memories here.

    • I love all of the stories told here and I get to be a part of them.

  4. Practice it.

With practice, you can train your mind to respond to other experiences in your life, your everyday life, with your wellspring thoughts. This just takes strengthening the neural pathway… practicing it! Here’s some ideas for practicing:

    • Write out your wellspring thoughts every day.

    • Record your wellspring thoughts and put that on repeat!

    • Consider the person you are when you think that thought and rehearse those thoughts like you are becoming that person for a play or movie or story.

    • Recruit me, your fairy godmother, to take you on an immersive fairy tale adventure into your mind. We’ll look more closely at your wellsprings, find the best tools for you to practice them, give you support as you enact your plan, and tell your story from Once Upon A Time to transformation as you enchant your everyday life. Check out my programs here and let’s talk!

    • Fill in the blank! Whatever you can come up with to refocus your mind toward these thoughts as often as possible… pretty soon, you’ll notice it just starting to happen naturally…

    Boom! Magic!

I like to redirect my brain to my wellsprings throughout the day and see what I am able to notice when I do. Doing this opens up entirely new doors, new stories, new experiences, and more magic in my everyday life!
